I think browser based is really the way to go as far as ease of use (for players) and being cross platform is going to reach a way larger audience

Something like BrowserQuest, which is open source. BrowserQuest Live Website BrowserQuest Source Repository I think browser based is a good direction to go, and BrowserQuest might be a great thing to expand upon. Problem is, I have no idea how to setup the server stuff. The documentation is a little...

If you think you are capable, then I encourage you to try it.

William just posted a basic C/XNA version of Mirage that was abandoned about a year ago.

Yeah, I was never big on the NetGore stuff. No offense, Spodi, if you're around :P

The MirageXNA stuff...How far did they ever make it. I don't have the slightest idea how to do anything in C#, much less compile it.

Is there anything similar to Mirage these days? I kind of fell out of programming, can't really even remember how to do much in VB6. But it would be nice to get back into this as a hobby. I recently tried to open some of my old projects. Along with all the old bugs I never ironed out, I now get an a...

Yeah, Black Mesa was loads of fun. And EVERYONE should play it. It's free god dammit. Just open the steam library, and in the top left where the "Search Bar" is, click the drop down menu (which likely says "All Games" by default) and select "Tools". Once you have the To...

Anyone playing Torchlight 2? Should I buy it?

I play Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Counter Strike: Source still (sometimes). Currently playing through Black Mesa (If you're not playing Black Mesa, you should be, it's free).

Pretty fun game. I bought it during the Steam Winter Sales so I could get an achievement. My only complaint is that I don't have a usb controller to play it on. Mouse and keyboard just don't feel right for this game.

We need a new Mirage Source. Something simple and clean - and in the spirit of Mirage - a decent introduction to learning a programming language. Obviously it needs to be a modern language. The outdated nature of VB6 is largely, I think, why this community really started to dissolve. I said it elsew...

Reddit, YouTube, and Facebook. Find a local comic book shop, see if they'll let you hang a flier, or leave a stack of ad-cards with a short description and a web address.

Take a look at BrowserQuest .. They have a github which you could fork and make your engine off of This game was so fun. I found it, got nostalgic of Mirage, and basically beat it (earned every achievement and got the best gear) in one sitting. Only took two hours tops, but still, tremendously fun.

I think the last time (most of) you guys heard from me (on here) I had moved back into my mom's place and started vocational college and work at Blockbuster. I dropped out of college after a year. Stayed at Blockbuster until the day the company sold out to Dish Network and they closed our store. Wen...
