I'm a programming failure but I say C# since it's multi platform and will never become outdated wheras in the future .net will probably become obsolete just like vb6 did.

gives me an excuse to get off my ass and try learning too.

Just to formalize things here:
C# AND VB.Net are BOTH ".Net".
".Net" is a framework.
We just don't say "C#.Net".
VB.Net is just the same chit as C# when compiled. It's all CIL.

Aha. Well, I feel stupid but only shows im a programming failure :P

What's the deal with C++ then? Is that it's own format or is that based off some kinda framework too?

C++ isn't an interpreted language, it doesn't have it's own framework.

.NET and java are interpreted, when you compile them they are converted to bytecode which is read by the .NET or java interpreter which convert the bytecode to machine code and runs them. C++ is generally faster because when you compile it is converted to machine code, so you don't need an interpreter to run it.

Looks like we'll be doing C# for sure.

Exadon and I are going to start planning out things. Whatever we come up, we'll post on the forums first for discussions.

I vote either Whitespace or Brainfuck.

I'd say port it to Ook! since any monkey can understand it. ;D

Also in my opinion i'd stay away from .NET and Mono especially. I dont like Relying on a Framework for my Applications. (Except SDL since SDL is ftw)
Really, FreeBASIC is way faster than .NET ;)

(and since its based on QBASIC same as VB is then it's easier to port, Also Linux support ftw.)

Oh, shut up! Gah, i don't know how many times i've heard you talk about how you hate .net languages, and everything should be in FreeBASIC. It's annoying as hell. People want to stick with a language that will continue to get support from the OS they are trying to get them to run on!

/end mini rant

Anyway, i vote C#, I want to be able to use XNA with it :D

27. :D

Well i'm Biased and i'm openly discussing it. Hurray for me.

Also.. Xbox Mirage games? Hmm.. That would be intresting.. Maybe if it was ported to C++ and i was Uber 1337(wich i'm not.)
then i could have ported it to DS, wich probably only me and maybe 1 or 2 other people in the Community would ever get to use it ;)

So yeah, Port it to C# XNA so we get Official support on modern technologies. (VB6 and DirectDraw support are slowly dying IF YOU HAVENT NOTICED  )

Na i believe it's more like 39... :D

anyway, i think being able to have mirage games on Xbox would be a major accomplishment. Not to mention make Mirage itself top of it's class.

C# all the way!

You can use XNA with VB.Net.

Of course you can, you can even use it in C++.NET and J# since theire all .NET, but you cant compile it for Xbox.

If you do a XNA community game on the XBOX, it CAN NOT connect to a central server hosted on a PC.
