Any got Mirage Working on Windows 7? i have tried to register DX7VB in system32 but it won't have it !!

It works.. Ive did it before but its a hell on. On the other hand, ive NEVER got it working on vista.

So download dx7vb.dll and add it in.. Then register it.

They do. You just have to disable UAC first.

Actually, they do not. Windows is trying to phase out vb6, most of the DLLs are blocked, and if not, poorly supported.

I have Windows 7 installed. I use Mirage Source on it all the time. I don't care what you say, I know from personal experience, for a fact, that it works. :P

On windows server 2008 it didn't work just installing the dlls and such. I installed microsoft windows compatibility toolkit 5(I think) then it worked like on xp, normaly. And that is the server side.

I also use Windows 7, Vista and XP. It is volatile at best on Vista and on Windows 7, not all copies support it. You need to think that a situation you have is no always the same for everyone.

You're the first person to not be able to get it to work. Also, it will work, you just have to tweak some things. The same Vista work around works for 7. I've installed it several times on several different machines and lo and behold, it always works. ;)

You have to go into the user account settings and disable UAC and then you have to register the dll files in administrator mode. As long as you're an admin, you should be fine. But that's not always the case.

Ive got it working on Windows 7 easily I just do the same thing I do in vista.
Turn off UAC, add the .dlls that I need and register them install vb6 and it all works.

how could anyone not get this to work? It's really simple, copy, paste, register. if you do it right you don't need to change any settings, but if you absolutely need to just give yourself absolute control over the system folders so you can add DLLs in whenever you want. (Of course you have to give yourself the access correctly though.)

I registered dlls on Server 2K8 without changing anything(except for turning off UAC) and it worked fine for me.

It was bugging with the IOCP I think. Now I don't remember exactly what did happen, but WCT5 solved it :P

You don't even have to switch off UAC.

Make a new textfile. Open up with Notepad, paste:

regsvr32 C:\path_to_dlls\dx7vb.dll
regsvr32 C:\path_to_dlls\dx8vb.dll


Save the file. Rename it to "regthings.bat"
(make sure your Windows doesn't hide known file extensions: Explorer -> Organize -> Folder and Layout Options -> View -> Untick "Hide Extensions for known filetypes")

Now right-click -> Run as Administrator

Done. =) Works for Vista, Windows 7 even for XP.

Atlantis is correct, you can also do the same thing by typing those commands into the search bar in the start menu and holding Ctrl+Shift while pressing enter and it will register the Dlls in administrator mode. I know I always say this to Matt but I don't think you should have to turn UAC off :P.

You don't HAVE to turn it off, it's just very VERY annoying to have to deal with. :P

I agree it was pretty annoying in Vista but Windows 7 it's no big deal at all.
