What don't you like in it? or what would you remove?

The FMod music works seamlessly, all you need is the DLL which I provide in the package, it also continues playing the same music if you change to a map with the same music. It fades out and into the next song if you change to a map with different music... pretty cool if you ask me :D

Might be good, and these features aren't really big so I guess we could have them in. But these arent really needed.
002. ADDED: Server Side Who's Online Listview.
003. ADDED: Server Side Kick/Disconnect/Ban.
004. ADDED: Server States.

Oh I thought they were definantly needed. Why have hte limitation that you need to log in to see who's online, or kick someone misbehaving?

There is no point in removing them...

Yeah :P Of course they are good features. But we shouldn't be adding more features. Since those things can easily be done by the programmer. But small good things are fine I guess.

After a year of working on Valk and posting my changes and what I'm working on, I finally get some feed back. I want to hear what you have to say, good or bad... so don't feel bad for saying you dont want that stuff :)

The overhead for those three things is very, very small. It would be very easy to "remove" them, even without removing them.

It's hard to give feedback on a feature list. You actually need to dig in it a little before you can say anything. :P

I was just looking at Valk last night to see if I could figure out the problems.

Yay motivation!

Anyways, I can't get it. The server sends the login OK packet, and it never gets to the client.

I guess I have a few things left to try, but it sucks.

Do you try to connect from your computer to the real IP? If so, you need to open the port.

Author:  Lea [ Mon Dec 25, 2006 3:56 pm ]
Post subject:

The port is open, the client connects. Just that packet never arrives.

Author:  William [ Mon Dec 25, 2006 3:58 pm ]
Post subject:

Okay.. The port is the only thing I can think of that can cause that problem.. Can you send another packet with it? or is it just the login thingy?

Author:  Lea [ Mon Dec 25, 2006 4:05 pm ]
Post subject:

I get other packets, but there are only two sent before that, AllChars and MapDone.

It also works when I connect to a local IP, but doesn't work when I connect to a remote.

That is pretty odd, but I can't believe its that hard to fix if you just spend the time going through it all.

I had similar problems, when I first installed IOCP. But it all worked out correctly.

What about using SOX? instead of IOCP... I hear that can use up to windows 98 onwards though I am unsure of how many it can support.

i hate to say this but i think there are better things out there for vb than iocp and that other one weve been using. liek the ones microsoft uses. if we could get those we would be in the run of the fastest programs.

Hosting part? Once you get it set up and get farmiliar with it its a lot better and you will like it better. Its easier to sort through information when you have lots and lots of players. Also its easier to make php scripts for nice website additions. ANd its faster.
