I really need to get some feedback on this. A friend offered to program k2h in another language, it will probably be in C# then. Anyhow, ive gotten so far in vb with my game now. This was exactly what I had to do before too. back when I didnt know if I should use Konfuze or start programming. I started programming, now should I stick with vb, which is limited. Or go for the help he offers, and achieve more with the game. Its a very difficult decision. For once its hard to decide, since I currently dont know the capacity of my game. It could carry more players than I might think... Another thing is that it wont be the same, not the same control over the game. Features will not be added as they are is ms with the smallpacket names and such cute things. Im strongly considering it, and this person I know I can trust and he wont stop half-way or something. So thats not a problem. |

I dunno either. Personally, I would stick with VB, since you already have it developed so far. On the other hand, C# is cross platform, isn't it? I dunno, tough choice. You could always have him convert K2H to C# keeping it exactly as it is, and that way, when you release the VB version, when he finishes the C# version, you could always just switch. That's how I would do it, K2H has gone a pretty long way imo, and to start over would be foolish. |

I would change the server to C++ or C#. I'll just keep the client in VB. That's what I'm doing to my game and is the best thing you should do imo. |

Yeah, that sounds like a very good idea. Never thought about it, it would probably result in less work too  I will talk to him about it.

Get more languages under your belt, But be able to manage it. C# is pretty nice. I don't use it at all in what I do. But took a look at it when Realmforge GDK first came out and got into it a bit. Stopped. Wish I didn't. My three and a half cents -bpendz |

It will be named Key To Heaven, the option I have is the following: 1 - VB I have full control over everything and I can debug and add things how ever Id like to. its more my work done then getting help. 2 - Server C# Would be decent, still a little more difficult for me to add things. But guess the server would run better. 3 - Both Client and Server in C# Every player would need to download: dx9 and net framework. And I dont like the idea of downloading a lot of extra programs to run a game. but the game would be much faster and support a lot more players. |

Um Either Server, Or Both. I dont like Visual Basic. But the server would be faster. And if C# Client. That would just make the whole thing run faster any way around. It all seems good. |

Seriously no. Lol im am using Eclipse to make my game. And using Vb to edit it gui wise. Sry ill post down on not liking it. If that makes it better. But after this game if i finish it. I wont be using VB. This forums seems fun to hang around. Lol. |

As most people say, hard work pays off and seemingly using eclipse your not putting any hard work into your game. But that's just my opinion. |

Actually, he could be putting a hell of a lot of hard work into his game, it just won't mean anything in the end. Sorry, but it's Eclipse, and from what I've heard that a closed source engine. Everyone here is building up from the bottom to create games which aren't all made from the same mould. In the end, your game is going to be the same as all the other games made with the Eclipse engine, with the same features, programming and bugs. |

This is off-topic, Eclipse already gotten several rant & raves. In the end all that matters is custom gfx, doesnt really matter if its good or bad, as long as you never seen it before. |

Eclipse isn't half bad. Just don't like the owner, he's a retarded little kid. Funny part, he used to map for my PW game years ago. Lol. Anyways, Eclipse is 10 times better than ES. Btw, Robin, Eclipse's source was released at some point. Whoever has sources uploaded on their site, either you or Cruel has it. ^_^ |
