You could always put it on KOC web. :P

Good work mis. Seems like a finished Tetris game to me. All the features of the others before.

If anyone cares here SS's and download of my snake game. Pardon the crap graphics as I have been doing the code and not worrying about that yet. Anyone feel free to make a better snake, border, or logo :)

Also any suggestions to spice up snake would be appreciated.

Hehe, looking nice Missy! I'd be making a tetris clone, but I'm in the boring land of Fargo, ND.... and I only have my crappy laptop.

@ Halla- Link is dead...

My bad I had lowercase s instead of capital. I do that a lot. I fixed it and uploaded the updated game with some changes I made today.

Let me know what you guys think... what I should add all that good stuff.

Well, better late than never. I actually started this tetris clone a few months ago and gave up after I got bored with it. No leveling yet. Hope Mith doesn't mind, but I used his graphics with a slight modification. And thanks Misunderstood for the wikipedia link on the scoring.

[Edit]Forgot to mention. Song found on Vgmusic.com

[Edit2]Also forgot to mention. If you don't want the music to play, either delete the song or rename it. Or if you want to play a different song, you can pass this parameter. -s [Filename] (minus brackets. For example: Tetris.exe -s C:\WINDOWS\Media\chimes.wav. It does support wav, midi, and mp3 files.

Ok.....Done!

Same link. Leveling increases speed by 20 ticks each time. You level every 10000 points. I can lower that upon request...

[Edit] Slight fix on 2 things. I stopped the speed increase for after level 25. Your level will continue to rise, but the speed will stay the same as it was on level 25. Btw, it is REALLY fast on 25, causing a slight glitch in the keystrokes being caught. But I doubt anyone will play to that far. I also tweaked the random piece generator. It seemed to create the same peice over and over every now and then. It doesn't seem to do it as much now, but if it does, let me know and I can tweak it again.

Okay... My first version is done! :)

This was created in Visia.. Here's a screen-shot:
Image

Current Scoring system is as such:
1. 10 points per line, multiplied by current level and the number of lines (at one time)
2. If you view the next piece (F3) at any time before a row is removed, your score for that calculation is cut in half. However, the 'Next' piece used variable is reset upon calculating the score.
3. Cheaters (Speed hack anyone?) will not be able to save their high score. :P

Look at the main menu.. (First screen you see) for detailed directions on the keys. :)

Here she is! Stack 'Em 1.0.0! :P

File size is only 10KB.. includes the data file and the exe.

Report any bugs either here or in a PM. :)

Oh yeah... Once I finish commenting all of my code for this project, I'll release the source.

[Edit]
Oh yeah... almost forgot... Find the easter egg! :P

Post subject:

Only 'easter egg' i found was with square blocks if you hammer left/right and . quick enough you can stop its descent completely o.0

Author:  Verrigan [ Tue Aug 29, 2006 5:41 pm ]
Post subject:

That is not the easter egg, but thanks for the bug report. :)

[edit]
Also, in investigating this bug, I noticed another bug... when hitting keys too fast, some get stuck on.. Working on it. :)

[edit]
Both bugs should be fixed now.. Please re-download. :)

[edit]
Noticed a little problem with my speed algorythm.. So I changed it.. Having to move/spin pieces every 10 milliseconds at level 10 was not my intention. :P

Also, updated the keys to all work properly.. Some have repeat rates slower than others.. (Up, Period, and Comma are on 500 millisecond repeat rate.. Down, Right, and Left are on 100 millisecond repeat rate.)

Fixed a problem with the Speed hack detector.

No easter egg found yet... Still waiting. :)

Same download... report those bugs... :)

The key timing thing mentioned above was not fixed.. It is fixed now.

[Final Edit... Then I'm gonna double-post. :P]
Whoever finds the easter-egg first is entitled to one Bug-Fix by Verrigan (tm) :)

Haha, you're the first person to encounter that bug. Did you have the music playing?

who are u talking to?

if me then im not shure :) didnt have speakers on

Post subject:

You, you're the one who mentioned the bug in mine..

[Edit]Then you most likely did unless you deleted/renamed the song. I imagine that bug has something to do with the music. It is something I worried about when adding it, since the game seems to freeze for a second when loading it the first time..

For those of you who want mroe of a challenge, Try making a demo mode, where it plays by itself... (could just move peices a little, most demo modes are scripted out, and not actually AI)

I am working on a tetris game, too, but I started to format my computer a few days ago, so I fell a ways behind :D

Is anyone going to work on the Demo mode challenege? I have one more sub-challenge to post onto the tetris game, before we make another game! :D

Add a new style of play to your game -- whatever you want -- that's different from other tetris games. Allow the choice of Classic mode, or whatever you decide to name your special mode.

Some ideas I've had are these:
The blocks start falling slow, but accelerate as they fall.
The blocks "drift" when you move them (think 0-gravity)
More than one block appears at the same time.
Blocks appear more frequently, perhaps having the previous block only half down.

etc. Good luck!
