Spent £35 on an old Playstation2, and £10 on Dark Chronicle!

Just ordered a memory card too. I seem to remember them being 8MB... so 64MB seems... huge.

Anything other than the Sony brand 8MB cards fucks up after awhile. I just picked up a PS2 not long ago at a garage sale for $15 with GTA3 and GTA:VC. Then picked up a new controller, memory card and FF12 for another $30. Then picked up Suikoden Tactics for $1.50 at a garage sale, brand new. Lol.

There's a bunch of other games I wanna pick up. All are RPG titles. Lol. If you find any that are good, let me know.

Mhh, well I'll probably pick up a handfull of 8MB cards later on. What kind of time-span are we looking at for a wear out?

The research I did gave it about a month or two. I personally haven't tried them and so have no personal experience with it. Just shit I read.

Both of the non-sony-brand cards I bought seemed to fuck up around the one year mark. I've been thinking about buying a PS2 as well. It's hard to resist the now dirt cheap awesome titles. And like you said Robin, a lot of good new titles are still being released.

Is it worth buying a HDD? It'd be nice having a hard backup of my saves.

You can't save / load games to the HDD. You can copy things from your memory cards to the HDD and back, but that's it.

(I have the HDD because of FFXI)

Yes, thats what I mean. If I can do that, it means I don't have to have hundreds of memory cards, I can simply backup old save games.

I have an XBOX. There's not many decent RPGs however.

The only good thing about the XBox is soft modding. Lol. That way you can play all the SNES, Genesis and GBA RPGs on it. :D

I found Dark Cloud 1 to be much more of a crisp game than Dark Chronicle. I suggest purchasing it if you don't happen to have it.

You don't need a chip its just easier. You can do the swap method... you insert a special CD/DVD and then you open tray with a tool... insert the burnt game and then lock the tray back in and its a go.

Yeah a chip is easier but its a cheap method that works. And its really easy to do so unless you cant follow instructions you wont mess up your system.
