Just a quick update, I am in the middle of programming in my on version of player quests. Player Professions are fully done and 100% working. Only a few things left to be programmed, and on or around Aug. 1 I will have a server up for public beta. I am focusing now on getting some content for the various groups, places, and people in the galaxy, and anyone here is welcome to give input and suggestions. If you want something or someone named after you I can do that too.

I plan on having pirate factions, minor aliens bent on domination, political infighting, espionage, civil wars, and interstellar warfare. But before I work on the web of conflict tying everyone together, I need some baselines. For instance, The Majursa homeworld is called Ursa Prime. They originally had a very rigid caste system of government, but disgruntled soldiers staged a military coup, so there is now civil war between the military dictatorship on Ursa Prime and the remnants of the caste government on the Majursa outlying colonies. Both sides have asked for outside help from other races, but I have not determined who is doing what until I (or others helping me) can flesh out simple backgrounds for other large organizations such as governments and corporations. Anyone who wants to help will have a hand in determining things like the names of important places and people, and the shape of governments of major races.

no no no! this is exactly what I don't want. I love Star Wars to death, but I don't want a game the replaces "magic" with "mysterious force." I want my game to at least seem like a possible futuristic scenario. I may at some point in the future entertain the idea of psionics (telepathy), but for right now it's all about the technology.

I'm not very good with names but I think you should base something off that idea.

Meaning maybe a galactic super power? Which formed after maybe a huge war or something in hopes to unite the plantes and galaxies etc.

Then have off chutes being rebels and .............

I don't know. Just an idea to think about. The general idea being Communism.

Just an update, I cleaned up my graphics output code a bit to change the way my animations are rendered. Player and NPC walking now look smoother, and I changed the way the layering is done for player sprites. The Race sprite is unchangeable, and the class clothing is rendered on top of it is defaulted to the class default on character creation and can by changed by an admin or scripting. For some weird reason when changing the sprite that Guild tag changes to a number, but if you log out and in again it goes away. I'm looking into that right now to figure what the problem is. The server will be up and downloads available for testing in the first couple of days in August, once my new ISP installs everything.

I would look at the packets the server sends to the client when you're changing those things.

You're right, there was an extra SEP_CHAR in my SendPlayerData packet server side. bug is now fixed.

The Countdown begins! Friday this week I will have Charter out to hook up cable internet. If all goes well, the server will be up that night! It's crunch time for me as to whether I can finish my quest system before it's released, but everything else is ready to be tested. Just wanted to give everyone an update.

oh hell no, I'm moving and instead of the crappy wireless internet I've been using at my old apt. I will have high speed charter internet at my new place. The wireless ISP I have now won't unblock ports for me to run a server. Server is going to be smooth as butter, AMD Athlon X2 4000+ 4GB RAM with SATA drive and a 10mb internet connection and running Server 2003.

ok i downloaded and and extracted it, tried to run it and i got a runtime error 339, component ezAVI26.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

and i checked the dll folder and it was there, but if i have to register it, idk how, so could someone please tell me how to fix this?


[EDIT] nvm i just saw the register dlls.exe thingy, xD wow im blind

Please download the new client as it has been updated to the newest version. For those only needing the exe it can be found at http://www.athrandironline.com/download ... update.rar

This version fixes several small bugs as well as allows the use of chat symbols to automatically start chat without having to press the enter button. (such as ' for shout and " for global)

Also when making a new account the client will now require a valid email address when registering. I plan on expanding this later to add authentication and password recovery.

no, it's for my audio. I didn't want to use fmod. if you look at the second link that google brings up that is the file I use. the one based on ezVidCap. I may change though to directsound or something so I don't have to use so many dll's.

I'm not able to view the second result because my room mate is downloading a lot of shit that's causing the cable connection to lag bad...

But yeah, DirectMusic7 and DirectSound7 are good to use.

So a little bit of an update, nothing much going on, been fixing a few small bugs here and thier and I keep my server up for anyone who'd like to pop on every now and then, but I won't start hardcore working on my game until the winterbreak. Most of the engine is just about finished so I figure when summer break roles around I'll have something resembling a finished game. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Also, I miss you guys, I wish I had more time to chat with you all instead of simply lurking :(
