actually it's a Holly wand, as in made from a Holly tree:
http://images.google.co.uk/images?clien ... a=N&tab=wi

The majority of the maps are just temporary until I get someone who has time to map, as 99% of my time on the game is programming

and yeh, it looks like a ham 'cos I ain't made the wand graphics yet, but they'll be in 1.8.1... as I said, it's a BETA release, the game won't be complete as such (to the point where i'm happy) until 2.0

I'll make the Ravenclaw common room tonight, and it WILL be in the right place before you ask.... and wait... i'm sure the books were different to the games for placement of stuff, and i'm def going with the books not the films or games :)

edit: you're right, that one should be on the top floor, but until that's mapped i'll leave it there, deal? :P

ok the first exterior maps on FPO are all but done, i'll make them accessable soon, got to also add a little script so that people without wands and a house can't leave the castle walls to enter the outside (where monsters will be soon), but that's really simple anyway

you will also be able to access the wand making job, just cast a certain spell (can't remember the words) at a tree and it will magically give you the wooden branches and sticks for you to take to the castle and make wands out of

also, i'd like to add, since the currency system's not 100% complete you will only be able to earn "Credits" until I've finished the script, then you just exchange the credits for your money (1 wand credit is around 1 sickle, 1 broom credit is around 5 sickles, but you need to get X level at crafting to be able to make the brooms)

finally, the first player-owned shop will be available in 1.8.1, the school's bar, which will sell drinks for a rate you suggest. players who buy the drinks get bonuses to their mp etc, which can be used to do other stuff, so if you wanted to craft a couple of amulets you should do it at the school bar, then you can boost your levels with different drinks temporarily :)

the auction will start next Friday evening on the forums, the owner can set the prices through a PM to me (for now 'til i script the menu), and can hire staff through the game Say Script system, employees get 10% of all proceeds, so like 1 knut for selling a 10knut drink (or you could call it a discount if you wish, if they buy their own drinks)

thanks for your patience with the game, it's hard to balance all i have to do

haha it's in the works right now, there'll also be a range of clothes you can get from shops, and change them wherever you want using a spell :)

Do you use Vista? And do you have the power settings set to turn your computer off after so long? Cause, that works with the mouse and keyboard stuff, not programs running in the back.

So, unless you're moving the mouse or typing on the keyboard, it automatically puts the computer to sleep after like an hour or so.

Should switch to Vista. It's much better.

I've never had my PC freeze, never seen a BSOD or had any real problems with it.

What few problems I have had, were my own damn fault. Lol.

XP on the other hand. -_-

I'll never touch that OS again.

XP is an upgrade from Vista, not other way around, Vista is too resource-heavy... :P

No, it's not. Well, if you're stupid enough to get any other version than Ultimate, then it's your own fault.

only use i have for Vista is for my HTPC, when i get it, other than that i'm happy with using half RAM for games etc ;)

Half RAM? I have a gig and never spike pass 20% unless I'm playing a game. Last time I had XP on this PC, I never went below 40%.

You do the math.

then why does my 2gb system go slow (even with the specs i have) with games in Vista (ultimate), but XP it runs like a clown to antidepressants? :P

xp is much more reliable IMO, Vista's Media Centre is the redeemer for vista though

If you have a shit computer then use XP, but if you don't then run Vista.

My laptop has 3 GB RAM and I use 30% of it when I start then get to around 50% the more I use it.

It's only a matter of time before they stop supporting Windows XP.

Hell, they're already working on Windows 7. So, feel free to be with the obsolete software when the time comes.

You can't even buy a new PC with XP on it anymore. Not one that wasn't refurbished. You may not like Vista, but Microsoft doesn't care. They're gonna screw you XP fanboys down the line. Might as well just upgrade now. If your computer can't run Vista, replace it.

I run an AMD Athlon 64 2800+ at 2.07GHz with a gig of ram and a 256MB DX9 graphics card.

Runs like a gem too.

Yeah I got an AMD Turion 64 X2 2.00 GHz and it runs nice.

Microsoft say they will support xp until 2011/12
I run vista home premium on my laptop runs smoothly and I have loads of stuff running at the one time and all my graphics settings on highest runs just fine the only problems I have ever had is my own fault

Post subject:  Re: Fallen Phoenix Online

They're not gonna support XP that long. I give it until 2010 at the latest. That's only a little over a year.

my system:
Intel Q6600 (oc to 2.8ghz) Quad Core
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640mb
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz
Asus P5N-E SLI motherboard
Antec Nine Hundred case
running windows xp on a Samsung Spinpoint F1 1tb hdd

and i prefer XP 'cos it runs exceptionally fast, boots in around 5-10 seconds from the scroll bar thing fading in, i can run Adobe After Effects, Premier Pro and Photoshop without any lag etc, so it's perfect for my video & special fx editing too ;)

so yeh, i prefer XP ;)
