So I was going to go a different route with my UI and game client, until I stumbled on Misunderstood's old scrolling tutorial. Now I'm thinking of giving it a shot and adding it to my game. I am fairly confident I can work out any bugs that pop up, but before I get in over my head I was wondering if I could get some info about map sizes. One of the first things I did to my source was change the size of the maps. Since it's been so long and the source so modified, I can't remember exactly where all that stuff is saved, etc. How would I go about either changing my source to default map size to accommodate the scrolling maps, or how would I change the tut to accommodate for my larger maps? a newb question I know, but I'm so rusty when it comes to anything to do with maps and graphics. |

I'm fairly certain that the scrolling tut you're talking about will work with any map size, so long as it's the same size as the picScreen. To change the map size though, you'll want to edit the MAX_MAPX and MAX_MAPY in modTypes [edit] Any map size, but be sure to accommodate them so that your player can be centered |

ah, ok, thanks. I took a look at the code and didn't see any obvious reference to max map x, y, so I just wanted to be sure. like I said, really rusty on things to do with the graphics. |
