First and foremost forgive me for this really stupid question... Okay, I have no problems with Windows Vista, but that's my office computer, yes I have an office lol, nah j/k its my parents computer, which I'm not allowed on, unless I sneak on, or beg to get on lol. So far they've been lenient on it, but I would like to work on my game more, but no matter what I do when I launch Mirage, I get this error, it has something to do with me connecting to the internet obviously, I keep thinking its my loopback address or something, I'm not sure. To be less vague, this is exactly what gets highlighted... frmMirage.Socket.RemoteHost = GAME_IP Though when I check the logs this is what the error is... so I'm like huh? Line 997: Cannot load control txtChat; license not found. |

Right click on GAME_IP and choose "Definition" In the definition line it should say, "127.0.0.1" that will allow the client to connect to a server running on the same computer only. I believe I am going to have to join you in your "huh?" about that license... Can I confirm you're using Visual Basic 6.0? Any third party tools? A valid CD Key? (all 0's is a valid key) |

error 429 is usually an ActiveX error or some sort, something in not correctly being registered. Try this: http://www.athrandironline.com/index.ph ... Itemid=106 It doesn't have anything directly to do with your particular problem, but it may clear it up. |

Speaking of which, this is going to sound like a really dumb question, but is Visual Basic Portable legit, I wouldn't think so as the fact that it has the word reg something on it, but I never clicked it... so I think all I can do is compile stuff, does anyone know where I can get Visual Basic 6.0 I check at my local retail store, and they have yet to have a copy, so would I need to buy it off ebay or something? Oh and if its not a legit copy, please don't be mad, because it was the only thing that I could find that was an executable for Visual Basic 6 I found, so I thought you know why not. Oh and I did have a hunch it was not legit, so could I go to jail for using it? Oh and I can run the executables of the games just fine, I just can't seem to open the VBP |

You need a copy of VB6, I've not heard of this "portable" version before but I'll look into it. If you wish to purchase a copy of VB6 then you have two options that I know of. One is buy it off of ebay or a similar site. The other is to buy a VB6 programming book from a shop or website that includes a version of VB6 with the book. Of course, VB6 is a hard to find program to find and if it happens you download a version from somewhere and don't know if it's legal are not, chances are it's not. but while it may be illegal to download it, you are not going to have FBI show up at your door or anything whack like that. I won't advocate downloading it, but...sometimes it may be the only way. |

While we have no such talk about piracy here (against the forum rules to discuss sources on the forums) There are ways to download copies of Visual Basic. Now, downloading torrents of software has it's risks. It could be infested with viruses or trojans. It could not be what the title said it was. Generally, if you're smart about it, you do not have these problems. Visual Basic 6.0 is classified as "abandonware". This means copying or using it without buying it is illegal. However... you can no longer buy it, Microsoft no longer sells it, which means they are not making money off of it, and will likely not sue you if you download it. Amazon.com sells them. They have a learning edition for $50, and a professional edition for $250. I would look if the learning edition has limitations, I bet it does. If you pirate it, that's your business. If you need help making a decision, Gtalk me. |

Well my birthday is coming up soon, I was just going to buy a new computer... well you know that might be a better choice lol. I think I'll buy a brand new gaming computer, just like my office one, that has all the high specs like the 8500GT card, the 2 gigs of ram, the 600 watt power supply, and such, and just buy a new one same exact computer as the office one and install MS on that, and see if I get any luck, and than I'll use this book that I got from the library that actually offers the visual basic, for 25 dollars, the library actually will let you buy the cd that came with the book, if it has Visual Basic, it pays to actually read the receipt sometimes lol. |

Get a 8600. Only like $120. GL with your computer purchase. Planning on building it yourself, I assume? It takes a lot of reading and research, especially if it's your first one. If you need help, ask someone who knows their stuff.. like asrrin |
