Mirage Source

Anyone ever though about this? I know various people have tried porting to the .net code with varying degrees of success, and I'm thinking VB.net or C# would be doable. maybe not even a port, but a clone of the client that can talk to the server. as long as we keep the same packet structure, and the same mapping structure (tiles), it may be possible to scale down a version to fit on a pocket PC. who knows?

Anyone here know C#? I'm going to start learning it so I can start making my own mobile apps.

I've considered a port to a mobile app. I started studying C# but I abandoned the idea before it went anywhere. In the end I figured it'd be better to just write something from scratch though because you'd have to simplify the mirage client so much that end product wouldn't likely resemble mirage anyhow. Of course, I might be being a bit pessimistic too.

I think the only thing you'd simply would be the UI and how the mapping works. stats, how the client communicates, etc. would all remain largely unchanged.

Why did you give up on C#, is there something which doesn't make it compatible with what I am thinking of accomplishing?

Nah, I'm just lazy I downloaded a C# guide from the "nerd index" I posted recently. I may actually read it eventualy
