What port is the most recommended one? I know most people use 4000, but why? And someone said something about using 7000 due to XP bug? So what port should I use? |

mirage uses 7000 by default, the Elysium/Konfuze sources use 4000 (i think...), it just depends on what you have open... you can use pretty much whatever you want, as long as another program or service isn't already using it. |

I think you can use whatever port you want provided you don't use one already being used. The best bet is to just pick a number in the thousands. |

XP Bug? ... are you talking about XP itself (...yeah it's a bug)? But seriously, you should be okay as long as you have the latest microsoft patch that patches the last patch that fixes the hole in the patch that patched the service pack... patch. |

You should go with port 80...just to mess with people...>.>; Or port 110..that'd be a fun one to mess with too... I'm feeling evil today, sorry o.o; Yay evil! ^_^ |

Heh, why not just go with 23 then? Most people would have a pretty hard time noticing what was going on... then as soon as they tried to FTP it wouldn't work... and they'd probably try to spend a good amount of time trying to fix it. (Until they quit out of the game...) |

I'd recommend ports over 30,000. Your chance of hitting a port that another program is using is very slim that way. |

Actually, this is a good time for me to ask if there are any ports that are automatically port forwarded? My step dad won't let me play with the router because he is paranoid and I'd like to host something once in a while. |

Yeah port doesnt matter as long as its not in use like ones mentioned above. Some routers already have port 80 and so on forwarded since they are used with other things, but I other than those I dont think so. |

What happens if a port used by something else is used for my game? Cant they login? |

Then they either have to close that program down or they cant login. |

or... if your game is open, a program that is trying to use that port won't be able to connect to whatever... common ports... 21 - FTP (which i incorrectly stated earlier... whoops 22 - SSH 23 - Telnet 80/8080 - Internet There are a lot more, those are just the ones i can think of off of the top of my head. |

Wait...you didn't state that incorrectly earlier...I quoted you and it says 21 in there, so it was changed to 23 after I quoted you...xD |
